DAY #2 OF FILMING “PAUL McCALL”

This was our first shot on day #2 of filming "Paul McCall." If I remember right, we ran four cameras.
I had four different frame rates and compositions. In the end I think we went with the shot taken by our awesome D.P. Jed Kaleko.

This is really not an explosion. It's a fuel ignition. This was overseen by a professional pyro artist from Miami. The final result was a flame ball 75 feet high and 50 feet wide that lasted for about 2 - 3 seconds.

I remember that when it was over some of the dry grass had caught on fire. I watched for a moment as the crew began to stamp it out, yet it kept going. Quickly I was in there too stamping and stomping away. We were all laughing, though I was a bit nervous for a minute or two.
